and please sign if you are inclined, it affects a fair few of us directly and in the greater scheme of things, it's a bad move in general for your civil liberties...

I was only saying this morning that I was surprised there wasn't a law in place to stop you photographing the police...

:(

I don't mind being photographed, as i have nothing to hide.

So what are the boys in blue hiding?

Al. Come the revolution!! :D

Whilst I don't subscribe to all notions of infringements to our civil liberties, [cctv surveillance is fine by me] this is ridiculous. Pretty scary really..

i'm no revolutionary.

am as annoyed by hedge monkey's as the next person, but there are some incideous laws passed through quietly these days that can really affect people, especialy if they happen to photograph in public places.

very sad.

Looking after there own aren't they, Never mind what happens to joe public as long as they don't get caught. I have nothing against the police as i do nothing wrong, but they aren't doing there public image or confidence any good by making these thinks law.

Speaking for myself, I am a Socialist, anti war, anti blood sport, anti Nazi, veggie nutter!

But don't let that put you off. The sad thing is nothing comes as a shock to me anymore!

Al.

Especially as the officers who beat that guy up in London had covered up their numbers...

..we wouldn't have found THAT out without photography.

Yeah, and it's thanks to video and photography over the years that we've seen what they've been up to sometimes.
It's also kept them on their toes to behave appropriately wherever there might be witnesses. [well.. more than they'll need to be now anyway]

For a moment of balance, the police do not pass laws. They simply enforce laws put in place by the poloticians that we elect. The article itself says 'The law states that if anyone takes a picture of a policeman/woman/officer in duty it will be considered illegal if they prove connections to terrorism.' So if you are not a terrorist you are unaffected.

Are we really going to lump all the police out there doing a job we do not want to into the same rotten pot as the guys alledgedly 'lashing out' at protesters (even if no evidence is put forward to prove or disprove any aggravating circumstances leading up to the incident)?

You are not allowed to take photos in museums either and we own the stuff in them. Does this deserve a petition?

Come on folks, lets not fall into the 'police state' panic that certain sectors of society would have us believe that we are 'sleep walking into'.

And breathe....
