lots of bmx frames came in clear at the end of the 90s . looked ok until it scratched then you could see the rust forming under the rest of the clear so it looked tatty

i have a bare metal bmx frame that hasnt seen paint for a few years and is doing fine , once in a while i give it a quik rub over with gt85 and a scotchbrite pad . it doesnt ever get muddy though and sweat makes it rust quicker than the rain

if you do just use clear use twice as much of it to account for the lack of paint thickness

whenever i tried thin coats of clear it started to look cloudy

next one ill be painting will be satin black so i get to avoid clear

my trailstar is dulux brush , harder wearing than i thought it would be and if i do scratch it i just slap some more on

The powder guy in Killie was £20 for a pair of fork legs. I've had a frame done for £35 (elsewhere, mind). Reckon the bulk of the cost was because it was an individual item and I had picked an individual colour. ie if you go in and ask what they're spraying anytime soon you could get it cheap. The quality was pretty good for powder and I would use again.
