Mrs found this...

My final year project in uni was to design a cvt for a bike using a belt drive. Did quite well i thought.

:D :D :D

And SFW, that is- its art!!

I always like to see new bike design stuff- usually, it's the small things like bearings, or use of new materials over all that ends up mainstream- amazing how even modern full suss and road bikes look more conservative that designs did 10 years ago.

'Course, the UCI has a lot to do with it................ :p

I spotted an article on some bike company doing belt drive and a link to them[which i've forgotten  ]
Their belt one piece and has no way of splitting it ,the way you can with a normal chain and in their vid they were talking about fitting it through a slot in the dropout and made reference to you actually cutting the frame
Anybody know any info on this ,it seems an extreme way to fit a drivetrain,or will frames now come with a removable dropout :?

I think nearly all drive belts are one-piece so the only way of fitting it would be to have the dropout split in some way

You've seen the future here on retrobike
