Perry, I will write a proper reply to this - it warrants more than a line or so - but the Motley Fool (finance.yahoo.co.uk) has some well written introductory articles. Start with simple things like stocks. Choose some companies you know (Tesco, Vodafone etc.) and read up about them. Follow the news. Then remark how the price moves have nothing to do with it :P
