sorry i should explain, top gear has gone so mainstream, trashing cars for no reason, random women in the crowd, might be sexist but i could gurantee my life savings the brunette women in the background laughing at that trashed marina nows sweet FA about any car beyond the colour and the audi badge.

I think that the most rubbish ones were the polish copies of TG. In certain moment most of polish so called "car-journalists" started to copy TG style the best way they could, so - no idea, no knowledge, no interesting cars but tons of gel on their hair. I couldn't resist that.

Then original TG appeared on polish TV - but translated by the people who had probably never seen any car. Couldn't resist that either.

Now we have printed one - looks like sh*t. "Reading" - or going through pictures rather takes me no more than 45 seconds.
Everyone loves it. I cant't resist that.

I simply like cars too much :?

Irrespective of my feeling for or against TG.

What the hell do you mean by gone mainstream. It has always been the most mainstream motoring program on TV.

I'm no fan of Marinas but i still take no joy in them being trashed. When they were first launched they were good cars, but as they got long in the tooth they became outdated and aquired their poor reputation.
They similary trashed an MG Maestro not long ago, now they were much underated cars, just looked ugly.
I wince at any old car being trashed for no reason (and entertainment is no reason in my eyes).
Each to their own i suppose.

Well ive just come back from Top Gear on Wednesday (air'd tonight) and it was bloody awesome fun !!! Clarksons head is larger than a horse and he can talk shit sometimes but hey.... They get paid for having shed loads of fun !!!!

Look forward to going again !!!

P.S I love classic cars but lets face it, the Marina weren't one of them !! Not when you got Lotus Cortina's, RS500's, Mk 1, 2, 10 Jags, sl Mercs etc etc .. The piano did make a nice ring when it landed too :D :D

P.S.S Does 11 Million UK viewers and over a Billion worldwide count as mainstream ?

No, they were shit then and now.

In the same period, for similar money, you could buy an Escort, or a Viva, or a BMW 2002, even a Dolomite if you want to stay BL. They were good cars for their time.

A Maestro is ok with a turbo on, the rest of them were crap too.

As for Mk1 Escorts well !!! Say no more. My first project car and probably my favorite !!
