Just taken delivery of a rather tasty 1994 GT RTS1.

My plans for the build have been dictated by what I have already.

So my question is:

Is it okay to build it with more modern retro parts? I'm not talking SRAM XO and external bearings but V's etc.

I want it to be a rider so I could do with an element of reliability - I'm specifically thinking canti brakes!

Suggestions please....

Build it how you want it. I'd go for V's over canti's every time as I like to know that I can actually stop. I could never get on with canti's even when I had no other choice. As soon as Shimano release the BRM-600's, I had a set :?

As for the other parts, as long as they are in-keeping with the colour/look of the bike, do what you'd like to for reliabilty, function etc :D

As do I - but I guess I'll find out what the concensus is when I post it in Readers Bikes - If it gets moved to here I'll rethink
