i love the idea of living on a narrowboat or similar if it wasnt for my hatred for water :(

i guess i like the low cost aspect of it , do you have to pay any kind of council tax ?

It is cheaper than buying a house, but there's more maintenance and it's a harder, less comfortable existence.
People who buy a boat because they hate the idea of renting a house universally end up hating it after a couple of months.
But for me, there's nothing finer. I'd never want to live in a house.
