I have never bothered before but think I should buy a helmet. I ride a mix of on/off road and dont want to spend too much.
Any suggestions?

Giro Hex or Xen. I have one of each and I like them a lot. Of the two, I think that I actually prefer the Hex, even though it's the cheaper helmet.

At least they don't look like roadie helmets (with all that aerodynamic styling  ) only with peaks added for a bit of off-road credibility
Available in cool colours too..... 8)

Really should try them on, furinstance I have a giro shaped head with Spesh at a push, all others seem to sit funny. And if its comfy you'll wear it. :D

Aye- my sub six isnae that good a fit, but I find Bell is nice and snug (granted new Bell lids have an adjustable band). I buy relatively cheap- Yukon and Alchera road lid.

**If ye have a Big Heed, I still have a spare Alchera New in Box!!*

LIMAR, most comfortable and best fitting lids I've ever worn.
