Cateye rc-230

Having had a set o rc-230 cateye batteries, which for the money give a great beam, I managed to fry the battery. Searched the web to see if can be repaired and non-one sells the battery as they are discontinued.

This happened a couple of yrs ago, but have kept the lights. Since changed to different set for commuting, but the cateyes were great for offroad lights and the budget won't stretch at the moment.

So I decided to take the battery pack apart and pop into maplins. 5 undone screws later and a £3 battery - lights are back on.

Gonna try that, I've got the same problem with a set of RC230s.....dead battery.
If they can be put right for £3 then that's a good result.

Cheers for the info. ;)

once you take the battery cover off, just slide the connectors off the battery. Take the battery to maplins and they sell an identical one (which is on sale at the moment). Same size etc.

Refit (doesn't require any soldering) replace cover and charge.

Got one first thing this morning and it's now sitting getting it's first charge.

Saved a set of perfectly good lights for £3.99

Gotta be a bargin. Cheers for the info. ;)
