Well I have ordered a BB7 brakes for my front conversion......is the standard
pad OK, or should I consider an upgrade straight away.
Cheers
Carl

Ride with the standard pads until they wear out* and then switch to sintered ones. The change over takes about a minute and requires no tools.

Sintered pads are brilliant in BB7s - remember you will never boil the brake, so you can run them year round and on big descents as well as UK ones with no worries.

*Buy some sintered pads now - if your brakes come with organic pads fitted, they really won't last long in a UK winter, so carry the spares around with you on rides.

I've used Avid's own and Fibrax and would be happy with either.

I think all the bikes currently have Avid's own on, so that probably tells you something.

You can get 4 pairs of sintered Avid pads for £45 (£14 per pair seperately) or 4 pairs of Fibrax sintered for £40 (£14 per pair seperately) from Chainreaction.
