I have format my hard drive and fancy a change of antivirus software, the last one I used was free AVG, it kept asking me to update it everytime I switch the laptop on which it got on my nerves.

I need to pick a free download antivirus software soon and which one do you reccommed? I usually download from www.filehippo.com I am thinking of try the 'Bit Defender'..........?

Cheers

Avast HOME. That should be it. Wouldn't recommend much else that is free.

The update it thing in AVG can probably be turned of somewhere.

With AVG you could set it to auto-update. That's how I have it set up at work.

At home I use both AVG and ClamWin with Spybot S&D for the spyware.

Done Norton and AVG

McAfee seem good

Just fixed m8's lappy ... he had Norton running but d/l a game which was full of crap ... took me a hr just to get a restore done in safe mode !!!

The moral of the story ... no point having it if you d/l risky free stuff and then don't check it

Used to use AVG- ye are able to set it so it will only update manually of ye want. Version 8 I found to be far too slow on startup, annoying upgrade messages too, pish slow processing emails.

Use avast now, takes a bit more setting up, but much faster.
