i must admit for looks i still think the mk2 escort in forest arch mode is unbeatable (esp in rothmans colors as driven by ari vattenen in the early 80,s) and still rallying in clubman events today 30 years on
a true super car of rallying i.m.o

The historic rally championship that Dr S and I are both invoved in has loads of Mk1 and 2 Escorts in.

My dad co drives in an ex works Mk2 - it was Roger Clark's '77 Daily Express car.

cool and any car on twin 40,s still sounds so much better than any modern turbo car can dream of

As a motorsport fan myself, I always have a soft spot for the Mk1 and Mk2 Ford Escort, thought they were cool looking cars and I also liked the mid '90's Impreza, the 555 one that won the world championship for Colin McRae which he was a hero of mine, a flat out racer and exciting to watch.
