I've been shopping for a watch for my sons 18th, all the shop assistants are pronouncing titainium as tyetainium, (not correct spelling), but you get the idea.
I know our state side bikers pronounce it that way but I've always said titainium, or have things changed ?
Maybe I now own two aloomium bikes :?

Titanium

You do not pronounce it TIT ;) but Tai (as in Tai Chi or Tie ;))

the part that normally gets chained is the tanium I've always pronounce it tay-nium, but then that would be my accent.
Some might pronounce it Ta-nium (ta very much).

Quick look and Wikipedia says it's pronounced /taɪˈteɪniəm/ :?

The amercians at Le mans ....

There goes a jagWAH!! or PorSHER !!

It doesn't mater what side of the Atlantic you're on, according to the OED the origin of the word is from the Greek word 'Titan'. 'Titan' is pronounced 'tie-tan'. So... 'titanum' pronounced tie-tay-nium.
