Did you not tell them you were going to work for a direct competitor (even if you're not)?
Phone up IT dept and ask them how to best download and store large volume files from your company network and see how long before they put you on garden leave!

You should first ban yourself from the internet as you've obviously been breaching company policy on personal usage!
I used to have a lot of fun telling people that we had software that monitored their usage of the internet and then watching the colour drain from their faces. (funny thing was the MD thought it was a waste of money and ever bought it as he couldn't imagine there was anything on the internet that would distract people from their interesting jobs
)
