Beetles are ace. Your once common stag beetle (Lucanus cervus) is now endangered. Although they look fearsome, the males can't bite. I have been nipped by a seven spot ladybird (Coccinella 7-punctata) but I got better!
There are around 350 000 000 known species of beetles and over 40% of described insects are beetles.

In Devon, it is said to be bad luck to step on one. If you do it will rain.
