Using paypal to pay for a deposit, not gift but payment for goods.

Will it be possible to get money back if goods are not right, i.e. includes case where selker refuses to cancel the paypal payment.

Paypal state in their T&Cs that unless the whole amount is paid in one transaction, they will not help in a dispute.

So, Pay a deposit AND the balance with paypal, you will not be covered. Pay all at once, and you will.
