Thank goodness for an American called Armstrong!

Never thought I'd admit to that.

42 year old American Kristen Armstrong won the women's time trial, to deny a Russian the victory!
Having apparently tested positive this year, she was set to win, until Armstrong finished! Phew!

That would have left a bad taste. For some reason, the UCI sought fit not to ban her from the games, the emphasis being put on each sport's governing bodies to impose sanctions on athletes, by the IOC.

Balls? No , we don't have any, Russia. Have a nice day Mr Putin!

Re:

What about Emma Pooley then eh?

Well worth not having Dani King in the road race for that result.

Re:

Who?

Great race my Cancellara! I must admit to being a fan, as a classics specialist. Will he now retire? Go on Fab, just one more cobbled classics campaign! ;)
Great ride for the Team (Olympic?) sprint. Looked down with a lap to go.
Solid qualifying for the me s pursuit, three seconds ahead of 2nd fastest.
Didn't see the women's race I'm afraid

I was thinking that all along! I'm certain Dani would have been the better choice, not that I'm a fan or anything...

Re:

Dani appealed the decision, but British Cycling in all their wisdom decided it was better to lose both the road race and tt medals, than have a possibility of just winning only one... although they maybe didn't think of it quite like that.

I love an optimist, don't you?

Re:

Stayed up to watch the men's team pursuit

Bloody 'ell, that was close!

Re:

Electric full suspension Derny bikes? WTF??? Really bumpy those Brazillian velodromes...

And what about advertising, I thought that was frowned upon in the Olympics, apart from official sponsors? Brand names everywhere, even on the Derny bikes!

Chris Boardman made a quip about the need for suspension on a pan flat cycle track. :D

However, an electric motor has got to be better for indoor use than a noisy, smelly two stroke.

Re:

It was worth staying up to see Bolt do it again. Shame he never really tried to run his absolute fastest in a major event. Even his 9.58 was not b@lls out. Reckon he could have come close to 9 sec dead at his peak.

Brits are the best cyclists in the world, downhilling, TDF, Volodrome etc incredible. Feeling proud

Maybe he's saving himself for a Virgin sponsored event, where he may get a fat bonus from Dick. Hate to think in those terms, but it's possible
