I can find out for you, Nick Crane is a bit of a nutter (in a nice way) my brother went on a few night time mtb adventures that Nick and a friend cooked up in the 90's

Has the bike world just filled up with smart arsed commentators now? One their achievements was bagging CadairIdris by MTB in the 80's, no mean feat. One of Nick's bikes is tucked away safely near Blaenau Ffestiniog and still gets regular use

Was this the one he rides the Lakes. I missed it but see it's on iPlayer. The misses alerted me to it.
How different were the passes he rides down back then? Where they are churned up and worn as now (from chatting to the misses about the show)?
