New Shimano Road Disc standard

Re:

Curious how they'll deal with different rotor sizes.
Unless they use those ugly adapters they're trying so hard to avoid, it looks like you'll need a different F+F if you want to change the size.

"A cleaner, integrated construction with the frame (no visible mounting bolts)"

Here we go. Another standard that presumably will make soot-plastic composite frames
and forks easier and cheaper, but will now charge a fortune for the new untested gubbins.

Will probably turn out to be a dreadfull bodge on skinny steel or Ti frames just like all these
oversized BB whatsits. Looks like it assumes a straight bladed fork too. The advantage of
IS mount is that you can't mess up the frame and fork by over-tightening or threading anything,
but that obviously doesn't figure any more in design.

That's the first thing I thought.

Helicoil sales will be up then.

It will use a wedge shaped rail that the caliper will slide along and can be locked with grub screws, no bolts to strip and will be able slid up and down to use different size discs.

Ah...looks a little more promising design. A bit like a dovetail joint then?

That's what it looks like from those cad mockups, either that or I have just given away a really great idea :D
