I was also pleasantly surprised by the number of people speaking Gaelic.
My family are from the Highlands, and for many years I would visit every summer without fail; back then the only people who you would hear speaking Gaelic were a few old folk. Unfortunately 40 years living in London robbed my grandfather of most of his native tongue.
