What makes a bike retro?

Sorry if this has been posted before. I have done a search but could find a difinitive post on the subject.

Is it to do with the
age?
make?
model?

Or a mixture of the above?

I have a 13 year old RC200 which i deffinately think of as Retro.
An 11 year old Bianchi racing special road bike which i think of as retro,
and a 12 year old Giant Peleton 7400 road bike which i dont think of as Retro.

Just wondered what other peoples views were?

Retro means different things to different people.

It could be defined by age, or it could be defined by style, or maybe I bit of both.

For me, it's more about style and design influence than how old something is.
I've said this before but I'll say it again; Dualit toasters can be brought brand new but there is no denying they're retro (and cool).
