I have been asked by my lady to sell the above watch. Strap needs replacing and maybe a polish. She says one pin needs replacing but I dont know what see is talking about!

Where shall I get it valued? Anyone know much about these?

Have you got a decent pic of the watch? What about the box and papers? The first thing to ascertain is if its genuine or not. If its the real deal then your looking at anywhere between £300 and £1k but probably the lower end of the scale if the chrono buttons are missing...

Hi
I do not have the original box and papers at the moment... they may be found. Knowing the source this will definitely be the real deal. I shall post some pictures later
Thanks

That's a nice watch assuming its genuine and working properly. Does the crown still screw down like it should? Do the stopwatch/chrono functions still work and reset to zero? What about the time keeping; Have you worn it for any length of time to see how accurate it is? Pics of the case back always help and if you can open it up and get a shot of the movement then even better. It does look a bit used around the edges and any potential buyer will also be factoring in a new strap or bracelet, but its certainly worth looking into getting new pushers fitted if you are planning to sell it. You might pay £10-20 per pusher if they are a generic fit and then an hours labour at your local watchmaker to fit them, but beware that there's also the chance that they are 'Fortis only' part... If that's the case then they'll have you by the balls and insist on a return to Switzerland for a full service before adding any parts to the bill, not to mention the refinished case, crystal replacement and new strap that you never asked for. Anyone who's ever owned a faulty Omega, Rolex, Breitling etc will know what I'm talking about...
As it sits its a 'for parts or repair' watch and you should get upwards of £300ish if its genuine and functioning and keeping good time (within 20 secs per 24h). With new pushers fitted and supplied with the box and papers then you might see up to £1k on a good day but check the completed listings on ebay for a better idea. Not having the box or papers generally devalues a watch by 20-30% so its definitely worth searching them out before selling.

Wow...many thanks for the concise reply, I have put it up for sale at £300 but maybe I had better get it serviced, I think my friend found a UK Fortis specialist

I think in current state (if the papers can be found) £300 in spot on...

On a leather strap, it's worth £500 to £550. If it had a nice metal bracelet, it would have brought around £750. I remember these being around £1500 when new?
