The day truce came.

Whenever the Great War is mentioned i always think of my Grandfather. I know he participated, experienced gruelling conditions and witnessed events which probably shaped who he would become and likely troubled him for life. I do remember my Grandad though i never knew him well, I do know that sacrifices made by him and even more so his fallen comrades ultimately enabled my generation to blossom in a time of peace. Thanks to them we are lucky in life and able to remember them on this day of Armistice.

A particularly poignant time, recent family tree research indicates my family lost 36 in the great war. Many Scots families lost half or more their men in this terrible lunacy.
