I've finally sold my big yurt so that's the c.card bill paid off, I'm having a clear out of bikes, I've accepted that for the foreseeable future this tiny cottage will remain home whilst I get my guidebook written up, and a routine is set in place in regards to my daughter and then?? hmmm I keep thinking of mid Wales, trees and trails...

How you feel is important in this life. I don't go near the big cola companies or the fast food chains.

Can't stand any of those drinks either. They are so sweet you can almost feel the diabetes coming on. I keep an organic version in the car if I feel myself getting sleepy.

Surely a sugar free "energy drink" that's loaded with caffine and taurine isn't an energy drink at all but rather a stimulant drink? Also I think most of us get more than enough sugar from other foods and drinks so should only really use proper energy drinks during endurance sports.

Bloody awful things - had one early afternoon and got no sleep the following night due to a tingling pins and needles sensation all over my body.

Chocolate milk does it for me these days

I don't think being organic has anything to do with the amount of sugar.

I have to say, I think the energy drink industry is just a front for a bunch of rich people with shares in drug and medical technology companies. There's going to be a diabetes explosion in the next 10-20 years.

I don't know how anyone can get hooked on Red Bull. I tried one once. I've never licked the sweat off a Parkdale hooker (the Toronto area members will get the reference) on a hot August night, but I can only imagine that's what it tastes like.

True I fear. I have a mate who has 2 or 3 big tins a day. Can't imagine why other than there is something in it as the taste is terrible unless you like refined sugar.

The use by date generally is reached before I drink my emergency tin. Better than falling asleep on the road and, if you only have one once in a blue moon, it does wake you up.

I'd you poured it into a glass rather than slurping it out of the can you'd never touch the stuff again!

Not only does it taste disgusting but it looks like p*ss too...

Where I used to work we were once visited by the Monster Energy drink girls. They left a lasting impression on me :D :D :D

A lot of these drinks are banned in many countries and one large manufacturer has promised.an altered.recipe to be splendidly it in countries such as America.cos the FDA weren't at all happy with it. The first ones were derived from recipes concocted by the US during the Vietnam way during experiments to keep soldiers awake and alert, but it was ultimately deemed to nasty to give.to the troops. It's nasty stuff and tastes like a hippies armpit.

A friend who is a GP and specialises in diabetes is convinced there is a diabetes type 2 epedemic on it's way courtesy of alcopops, nrg drinks (especially when combined with alcohol) all the evidence proven, just when he's unsure but within 10yrs. I'll stick to stout methinks and sensible amounts of real coffee or yerbamate but no Earl grey tea 'cos it's bloody horrible..
