In the dark, dim recesses of my childhood we went to le Sud for our summer holiday, staying at a very picturesque camp site in St Aygulf right on the Med...

...amongst the facilities on site was a chip stall where you used to queue up and buy however many francs-worth you required; my Dad would send me up with a large saucepan and I would leg it back to the tent with it full of the most fantastic frites you ever tasted!

Every once in the proverbial blue moon I will come across a chip shop that almost reminds me of that never forgotten taste but can never match it; they never seemed to go cold and stodgy either...

That is such a lovely nostalgic story.

I remember crinkle cut chips like being something shown on 'Tomorrow's World' . Amazing! Still don't know how they do it.
