For a laugh? Make sure you have a box of matches handy for burning off the excess, you will be passing clouds usually associated with the coming of beelzebub.

Theres something ironic about a quality wine merchant suffering from gout  , but ive a mate who has the same condition so can sympathize with you :)

One of its causes are from too many nuts and fructose from energy gels. Overeat either and if youre susceptible then its enevitble.
My mate packs away the peanuts despite me telling him nuts are a major cause.
Cant help some people :?

I believe that gout is a build up of a crystallization of a protein in the joint of the toes ,or something very akin to that :? I made a suggestion to him that perhaps something like an ultrasound cleaner might help break up the crystal formations, and so ease his suffering a little.
As far as im aware he's yet to try it. possibly no access to something like that but if you pop down to your local engineering firm ,maybe theyll let you dip your toes in their cleaning tank

Re. cherries:

A lot of gout sufferers believe they provide relief; and there is some medical evidence to suggest that they might. The medline article is directly accessible with no password via this google search:

Cherries didn't work for me; I scoffed about £30 worth with no effect!
