Bloomin cars Battery warning light on again

Quicky, I have an 07 plate Mondeo and the battery warning light came on, we took it to the garage and they replaced the alternator and battery, three weeks later the battery warning light is on again, can something else be wrong can something else be destroying the alternator?

check the brake resevior is topped up. fords had a little trick of illuminating this light if the fluid was low iirc. or youve a bad earth somewhere?

A few things to check:

Is the battery fully charged - ideally pop a volt meter on it without the engine running - should be around 12V.
You can also check once the engine is running to see if the alternator is functioning properly (should be nearer 14v with engine running).

Things to get more involved with checking:
That the drive belt to the alternator is suitably tight - could be stopping the alternator from charging properly.
That headlamps haven't been left in the "park" position (different from off).
That none of the interior lights have left in the "on" position - they'll be one for the front passengers and most likely one for the rear seats and the boot - will cause a nice slow drain on battery, and if your only doing short trips, might not be enough to recharge the battery fully.
Any other behaviour that could be linked to low electricity - sluggish starting.
Any "mods" that take power - different audio/extra lights/ not wired in properly (powered by ignition feed, not battery feed)?

No there is no warranty on it, it's second hand.

were you asking about 240v car sockets? Have you left this plugged in? It will drain the battery even if nothing is plugged in?

Oh right yeah a three month warranty, passed now though, and when we asked about fixing the alternator they said they'd recondition it and they'd need it all day and it was 60 miles away. well we thought new would be better so we went to out local and had a new alternator and battery fitted.

The light went off again today so I'm hoping it was a blip, but it will probably come back on.

Actually still has a few days left of the three months but as said they're 60miles + away and having to hang around a small town all day is not my idea of fun.

So the dealer that sold you the car replaced the alternator and battery right? They then sent you home with the car, and it has still got a related fault.

Whether your warranty was 90 day or three months from 27th April you still have a couple of weeks to get it sorted properly.

A couple of gallons of fuel to make the round trip is surely worth it?
