I've got a £40 Amazon voucher to spend and I think I've decided I want either a Swiss Army Knife or a Leatherman. I'd also like an Opinel knife but lovely as they are it woudn't be quite versatile enough. Would be used for general handiness, as well as camping/hiking/bikepacking etc.

Anyone have any recommendations as to the best way to spend £40 on one of these?

Not sure 40 is enough for a leatherman may be wrong but I thought I paid more for mine. Swiss army doesn't have pliers so leatherman wins.

No idea what I've paid for mine but I've got a Leatherman Juice S2 and love it! I always carry it with me on my keyring and it is superhandy. I use the pliers a lot to cut through cables (Brake or Mech) and it is sharp. I use the knife a lot as well to cut through tie wraps and cardboard and is is still sharp.

I am also starting to look for a squirt because of the size...

Do you want to carry it legally on UK streets? If so, avoid anything with a locking blade.

Otherwise for camping I'd look at the Vic Soldier for 30 pounds:

This is the modern military issue SAK. The main blade is one handed opening and locks, and the saws and screw drivers are excellent. This is almost(?) the same thing but a little cheaper (not sure if has the grippy scales of the Soldier?):

I take the Leatherman when bike touring, due to the pliers which are occasionally invaluable and would be extra weight if separate.
