Went brought a 'box set' phase a couple of years ago. Best ones were the West Wing, The Wire and the Sopranos followed by Our Friends In the North and Brideshead Revisited.

Any recommendations?

You know The Sopranos was a cult classic because The Simpson's did that take off of the title sequence with Fat Tony.

The Sopranos is my favorite TV series ever. I started watching at uni and 10+ years later It still stands up as a televisual masterpiece. James Gandolfini was one of the most compelling aspects of the series. Any actor that can make a man so amoral and odious (Tony Soprano), so loveable should be remembered as a true great.

Oh and History Man, check out Oz, it's my second favorite TV series.

'I thought this was an RIP thread' refers to Gandolfini.

Sometimes it pays to be smart rather than smart assed.
