Surely it's impossible to prove (or just as importantly, disprove) rape after forty years......
You would think that some sort of Statute of Limitations should apply - if someone believes that they've been a victim of some kind of criminal behaviour then why not complain in a slightly more timely manner rather than waiting 45 years?
A week ago I narrowly avoided a head on collision with a BMW which was overtaking a line of four cars around the outside of a blind bend. We all got away with it by a matter of inches. Now, if I'd got his reg. number (which I didn't) do I report it immediately or wait another twenty years?
Same for everything in my opinion.

trouble is, is sorting the wheat from the chaff. many of these have been reported then arrested and subsequently released. stemming from the original saville thing how many have been charged, tried and convicted? Im with andy_r if you want something to happen you need to report it or what is the point in reporting it 45 years later? there will be little chance of closure as it would be so hard to get a conviction it would have the opposite effect of making it seem the perpertrator has got away with it.
