I am building a new controller for my creative speakers and need help identifying a part - what is the correct name for the white 12 pin socket in this photo?

I'd call it a pcb connector, be warned, there are 100's of slightly different types.

It's a board header, but often called Molex connector/header.

Anyway, take a look here.

If you measure the pin-to-pin distance you should be able to find the right pitch connector and filter again to get fewer results.
