Do you know anyone still doing it?
I wanted a price on a 5.8 kg ali casting in LM25TF.
I don't have many castings done now, having them done one at a time now.
I left the patterns with the foundry but still have the solidworks model I made the patterns from, so I can make some drawings/pictures and can take a picture of a casting I picked up yesterday.
I wondered about doing them myself but having seen a broken home cast crankcase, with really bad looking ali, I have stuck with having them cast by a local foundry, it's got expensive.

Those are cast metal signs, we did up to 3-4 foot across, comemerative plaques too, but mainly house sign 80% was for outside UK. used to produce up to 135 signs a day ! pay was crap.

Did a little bit of 2 sided casting(3 dimensions) i used to do pattern setting and powdercoating too.................yup not many sand casting ops out there now.
we used LM24 and at times LM25
