Truly sad news, also a shame he's only really known as an astronomer and a stint on Gamesmaster. The bloke fitted more into his life than most other people on the planet, have a read of his obituary on the bbc - a duet with Einstein on violin and Sir Patrick on piano anyone!?? What an amazing life!
