So I have my first tickets for the Stones for twenty years.

I am really getting old.

Yes you are... but not as old as the prunes you're going to watch.

Were they a booby prize in a charity raffle?

I don't know about that. They put on a fantastic show.

My bro bought them.

Preferable to the rehash tours by the Madchester crowd.

Maybe if I'd seen the Stones in 1960's I would have agreed with you. I did see many Manchester bands in the 80's and have to say the Stone Roses at the International is in my top three gigs of all time.

Not sure I'd ever want to see some of those bands all this time on.

ps Your brother must be a nice chap to buy you a ticket though. :D

Not sure I could be bothered with the 60s Stones, they sound shite in most of the live footage I have seen.

They hit their stride musically in the 70s, and as a live phenomenon came into their own in the 80s. No other band works a stadium like it was a hundred seat speak-easy.

As thrilling and energetic as the Manchester scene was, it was small beer to the likes of The Who, Floyd and The Stones.

The only Manc band that understood stadium rock was Oasis, and they totally lost their edge once they got there.

When you see the Stones, it is much more than a mere gig.

Your whole life flashes in front of you, and all the things in it.

Saw the Stones at Maine Road in 1990.To that point I wasn't really a fan, but it was an awesome gig. They do know how to work a stadium.
Enjoy!

I saw the Stones once, at Altamont in '69-not their best gig....
