it seems i have paid for something off another retrobike member.
and the member has disappeared, been sending pm's emails etc.
i paid for the item on 3/9/12
last heard from him on 11/9/12
since then nothing. 3 messages in my outbox.
i will not be naming names at this point as i like to give sellers a chance.
but after reading posts about being let down, i now know how it feels to have paid money for nothing.
can't remember if i paid by paypal gift, is there a way of finding this out.
but i can now say i will never pay by gift again.
its a shame to be let down by people using retrobike.
i just hope the member will come good and either post my item or refund.
i will name & shame if i have to wait too long.
i just had to get that off my chest.

You might want to try the email button (can be found in their sig or their profile) i only found out about this option recently.
as a rule of thumb, i have recently taken the approach - anything over £15/£20 i use the 'goods' service and add the fees myself.

not sure how to check if it was a gift or not.....

i would also hold back on naming and shaming. you never know the reasons people disappear from the radar.....
 
Normally you make payment through paypal through a related email of the other person. Have you tried sending a message to that email ? Failing that... If it's a long time member they probably have a friend in here who can contact them
 
yes, i have sent an email to his email address.
the member has a low post count.
i just hope this ends amicably.
i will give the seller some more time before opening a case.
