I had to drive back from Nuremberg today, and happened to get back into Dover around sunset.
I always try to visit the Battle Of Britain Memorial whenever I'm passing, so this seemed a perfect way to break up a 14 hour journey.

I've spent a lot of my time reading up on this period of history, and I always get a feeling here that I've never experienced anywhere else.
I guess being able to put faces to some of the names on the memorial wall brings it home more.

I found this the most moving. A small, personal tribute, placed right on the cliff edge, hidden amoungst the long grass and looking out to sea.

This really is a must visit if passing through the Dover area

Wow. Dont know anything about this but inclined to find out now. Looks very nice and serene - i think the memorial is really quite nice.

It's fantastic. Look at it on google earth for a good overview.
Some real thought went into this, and I'm sure it'll be there for a very long time
