Been looking at some of the so-called unlocked ones on ebay for around £300 quid.

Anyone have any experience with unlocked I-phones?

heard rumours that they looking at issuing updates for the phone and if its not simlocked the updates will kill phone if this is true i dont no but was enough to put me off buying one.

badged as SIM Card Unlock Attachment for iPhone (6th-Generation) so waiting to see what the review are like for it if good i might attempt to buy one

I have the iphone, and once you have software unlocked it, there are tonnes of cool software our there, just check out the Pocketguitar app for starters, so far UK iphones can only be software unlocked and O2 unlocked ot use any O2 sim, ie payg, if you go down the import way, version 1.1.1 will suffice, you can update to 1.1.2 firmware, and still have it unlocked (i think), but the UK version use a later bootloader so this unlock hack doesnt work

If you buy one and need some help hacking, give me a shout, ive got a few links that will help you - The iphone does have it weaknesses but there a 3rd party app's work arounds, and once done, you wont be disappointed, it isnt a smartphone/pda more phone/smartphone

Buy an ipod touch, its an iphone...without the phone ....contract freeeeeeeee :)

Can still do wifi web browsing, which is fun.

I got an unlocked one, £260 on ebay, and the guy offers free updates whenever apple update and the updates been hacked. You get loads more software and I pay £20 a month less than the O2 contract and get the same service!

I wish i knew how Apple do this. I like Macs a lot. But their attutde really makes
I would love to buy one. But i don't want 02 or a contract . Just accross the channell the law is different and thay can't have single company deals.
You would thought they would want to sell as many as poss. In France Orange sold 50% more 'un-locked' phones. Is that not good business :? Look what happened to the iPod when they made cross formate it went big time sales and lifted Apple out of a slow death.
And yet the company acts like a complete 'W**ker'

Never knew that about france their you go you do learn something new everyday as they say, will be looking into that a little bit more me thinks.

They can be hacked easily enough.....my mate bought one in America for about $200 and had it working on Orange as soon as he got back here.

They are pretty useless though, too big, no 3G/EDGE and damned heavy

a BlackBerry will piss all over an iPhone any day of the week.... ;)
