Anyone going to watch?

I'm driving down early and parking probably in Guildford then riding down to box hill / Dorking

There is a FREE festival on near to the bottom of zig zag hill http://www.surreyhillsroadracefestival.com/

More info here http://www.gosurrey.info/olympic-road-cycling/

Planning on going to the festival, leaving bike there, walking onto the loop of box hill which they do 9 times and finding a nice spot to watch, then back to the festival to watch the end on the big screen.

I live in Guildford and am cycling to watch it, but probably going to shere as we dont want to pay for entry at Box Hill.

As far as i'm aware there are only 2 ticketed areas of box hill, zig zag one of them! The rest is a free for all as long as your on foot. That why leaving bikes at the festival and walking in seems like the best option.

How far is Guildford to Dorking BTW?

Yup, I'll be there. Plumped for a train then bike option - rail up to Farnborough then riding across to Leatherhead.

I'm going to go down tomo and likely head to the same festival, wasn't sure where I would park. Is it easy to find a place to park in Guildford?

Will ride to box hill from there.

Can anyone recommend another good place to watch the ride other than box hill??

:)

Not really, Box hill is where its at, 9 laps. Everywhere else and it will be over in a flash.

Were planning on attending the festival, then wandering out onto box hill for the 9 laps, then back to the festival to watch the end on the big screen.

THere should be a big b@stard hill just after Box Hill but before the M25, when the field should be strung out a bit.

What time will you try to get to the festival site? It's going to be damn busy I was going to aim for 9ish?? :?

Should be in Guildford for 8 8.15 ish, 12.9 miles eta 8.50 - 9 am.

Its going to be busy as hell, still can't be as bad as Le tour and the sardine feeling there.
