Laptop doing my head in...

It's a sony vaio and it has one of those docking station things it plugs into. Every so often if just turns itself off, normally just as I'm at the end of some painful on line checking out procedure...

Why is it doing it, and what can I do... it starts up again straight away and it's not a timing issue as far as i can see..

Anyone suffered similarly ??
 
Have you checked the power options, can be found in Control Panel. I tend to set everything on Plugged in mode to not turn off, although you could let the monitor turn off after an hour.

Is the laptop definitely pulling power when it's plugged into the docking station?
 
Does it completely switch off or go into standby or hibernation mode?

ie: When you restart it do you have to reload windows etc?

I'll hve a look at the control panel options as you suggest...
 
If you let me know the model no, I'll have a look about for similar problems. I work in IT, so excuse all the questions as I don't know your level of expertise. :D

not sure, I'll check next time it does it..

As for model number etc, I'll have to look at home tonight..
