Have a couple of 5 mm Ti hex bolts that are to long? I take it i just can't cut with a hack saw?

You can, but you'll probably need a new blade afterwards.

Would be easier with a dremmel type tool & mini cutting disc. But be careful not to overheat as Ti can catch fire.
