Cheers everyone. We're off on holiday tomorrow but soon as we're back those pedals are coming off. Having looked at them I will probably be posting a question on how to remove rusted pedals!

Hey that's not a bad idea, a part of the forum about mechanical queries and issues.

take the pedals off so he can push the bike along and to help him balance the bike better
