selling our gold reserves off for nothing
paying peole to have children,

Erm
Wars? You're on sketchy ground there  I agreed with the Iraq war as much as the Falklands.....probably due to the special relationship we have with the USA. :x
Benefits to scroungers....well done you
Selling gold reserves....to prop up the banks
Paying people to have children...see above

Sorry Harry, the sell-off took place between 1999 and 2002.

The Capitalist system had to save the banking system. If it hadn't then the system would have crashed and end of money as a exchange medium as it would be worthless. Then i and others wouldn't go to work and couldn't buy goods so businesses would crash. Then rioting & looting will take place.
End of Capitalist system. Then what next?

Politics aside...that such a once thriving manufacturing and prosperous nation as ours could lose 1.5 trillion on paper just beggars belief.
Where did it all go wrong?

Oh..were back to Maggy
