Today's Ride

Re:

Today-Monday-A nice 70 F. day out, with a good wind from the West. I had to pay a few bills in San Rafael today, so I rode there and back-about 11 miles roundtrip. It was good going down there, but a fight going into the wind coming home. The cool old truck with the 9' bed got a paint job-It used to be Satin Black with the Punisher on the driver's door- I've got a pic somewhere in my archives, I'll try to find it and post it up-it was on one of my rides a year or two ago...

Found it...

Re:

Today-Saturday-Another summer day, about 82 F. and sunny. I rode the loop to Ross, then up to Phoenix Lake, then up Shaver Grade, with a diversion onto Lower Concrete Pipe Fire road. Then back up to 5 corners and then down to Deer Park and Fairfax. Worked hard to keep the other 3 guys in sight, but strength is coming... :)

Re:

Today's ride was the "Hall of Fame" ride, which takes place the morning of the annual induction ceremony. About 40 riders took part, including Tom Ritchey, Joe Breeze, Jacquie Phelan, Steve Peat, and Wende Cragg.

Top of the first climb, Jacquie very famously had the jersey off, her trademark on group rides. I noticed that only the girls talk to her when she is in that state. Fortunately, the weather cooled off a bit and she put it back on.

Route was through the Tamarancho private mountain bike trails, including the "flow trail" DH.

Afterward there were refreshments provided at the museum. A big guy comes over to me and says, "Charlie, I don't think we've ever been properly introduced. I'm Steve Peat."

And I'm, uh... Honored.
