Back when I was a young 'un working Saturdays and holidays in a local bike shop (Hildenborough Cycle Centre, Kent, 1984-7, now a pet food shop  ), I knew a bloke who bought a TA cyclotouriste LH crank from us for thumping fish he'd caught:

And also saw this at the Federation of Master Bodgers FB page:

All the best,

Not used cranks for anything yet. But I did use a Diacompe 987 canti for a washing line hanger.

[confession time] it was a purple one too [/confession time]

almost on topic but I've used campy chainrings to shorten the cable on the ceiling lights in my cafe by threading the cable in and out through them... (before anyone screams blasphemy they were worn out!)
Electrician left the cables a bit long..which my son, who is 6 foot 3, discovered by bopping his head on them!
At 20 quid a bulb for the vintage-looking led ones, it had to be fixed, so it was a quick fix that please fellow cyclists when they call in!

We used to give away loads of old steel single speed chainsets to plasterers for mixing plaster....
I feel that needs some further explanation...there's no way you're going to get into the corners of the bucket with those :?
