Right, let's try to word this carefully.

It may be an escaped bird that was trained to a certain prey and it could be that if the rider changed his cycle helmet to one that did not have a red flash on it, the bird would ignore him.

Maybe if he painted eyes on his cycle helmet a bit like Bengali farmers and fishermen.

Apparently, tigers always attack from behind, so a mask with prominent eyes worn on the back of the head puts them off. I might take my chances with a buzzard, but for tigers I might want something a bit more substantial; like an armoured car for example.
