Retro coming back. Phones that is

Can they be unlocked?
IIRC back in the early '00s there used to be unlock codes for them. You had to provide your phone number and IMEI to some shady 3rd party site, pay them and they sent the code by text message. Sometimes it worked, sometimes you were had.
I always made a point of buying the unlocked version, even if that ended up costing me more.

But it is different..

I still have a few 8210, my personal favourite of the era.

But a very nice update? Plan to buy a phone again. Now which colour?

Two pre-smart phones that I had and really liked were:

The Nokia 8210:

And the Ericson T28:

They were really titchy and easy to fit in your pocket.

The only problem I have with phones with a number keypad is texting, I never did get quick with it. Even with a smartphone with a qwerty key layout I find it a chore. Texts from my phone are rarely more than three words long. If I'm at home I use MightyText: https://mightytext.net/, which allows me to type messages with a proper keyboard.
