XTR 950 rear hub cassette query

I'm in the process of receiving an XTR 950 hub set, it comes without a cassette though.
I've never had this model before, so I'm not sure if the only cassette that would fit, would be a 950.
Would I be able to use a 953 cassette?
Are there any alternatives which would fit , or is it XTR specific.

M950 will take any shimano cassette. Except road 11 speed, which is too wide.
You may need a spacer for some specific cassettes (7 speed and 10 speed road iirc) but nothing much else.

Thanks for the info.

I have a 10 speed xt m-771 going spare.
Would that fit for the time being?.

If it is an Alu spider then it should be fine.

You may/may not need to place a thin 1mm or less spacer on it. Probably not.

Whatever you do, don't remove the silver spacer looking rest stop. That should be fixed in place.
