M900 7 Speed cassette?

Has anyone else ever seen or heard of a 7 speed M900 cassette?

Every search I've done and the shimano timeline http://www.firstflightbikes.com/shimano.htm only relate to M900 8 speed starting in 1992. I cannot find 7 speed M900 anywhere. :?

What ratios are there? Sounds like a bodge :?

12,14,16,18,21,24,28 so pretty typical 7 speed ratios, all matching cogs too (set Q marked on all, as is the PK date code).

Bodge was my 1st thought, but doesn't seem to be.

Checked the sprocket spacing too - 5mm between centres (7 speed), not the 4.8mm of 8 speed, so this is definately a genuine 7 speed cassette.

I think that this cassette was probably fitted on a bike and not sold as spare . So not available to purchase on aftermarket .

those original bolted together cassettes were sh,te! great idea yeh, able to replace seperate worn out cogs.. reality was even with thread lock the buggas always loosened off miles from home & your cassette would just disintergrate

"12,14,16,18,21,24,28 " the 12-28 Q type XTR 8spd had a 13T in there..
