Don't think Pauls ever made a Hydro shifter. You might be thinking of SAFE and their 'Hydra-shift' from back in the mid 90s, then Red 5 in the mid noughties or Acros just recently. Shimano also have a version in the wings (patented in 2006) although it looks like their electric shifting will render that obsolete.

Yup, exactly the same. 5-rot had no money to develop or market it.
