Short History

I started on a Pacer 'Garry Lee', like this one but in blue :

When I decided I liked skating, I saved up and bought the bits to build myself a classic shaped 87 Santa Cruz Jeff Grosso 'toy box' edition like this :

But in black (not mine) :

I built it up very tastefully ...

Neon green grip tape (full coverage).
Neon pink Santa Cruz Cell Block III.
Neon pink front riser.
Neon pink grab rails.
Neon pink Powel tail protector (long gone).
Neon pink nose protector.
Neon green Gullwing Phoenix trucks.
Neon yellow (now faded) Santa Cruz Bullets (66mm 92a).
NSK bearings.
Ally sex bolts.
Rat Nuts truck hardwear.

I skated street and a bit of ramp, did neither very well   but really enjoyed myself :D

The deck got pretty scratched up so (stupidly, now I know the prices people will pay for them  ), I sanded it down and varnished it ...

When the Bear Valley came along (1990) the board got stuck in dad's garage to be used by my sister and her mates (three at once) and for moving heavy stuff around the garage.

It stayed in the garage until recently, I wanted it to film my GF's dance classes with the GoPro's and use it for panning shots down the room - I soon found it needed a bit of a refurb :(

The deck retained some of its ID, just ... Serial number from under the front truck :

Any guesses on the numbers :?:

The wheels cleaned up OK mounted in a drill with some sand paper, from this :

To this :

But they wont be re-used.

The plastics cleaned up OK, from this :

But they wont be re-used.

That stuff will be kept but this lot will probably be for the bin :

I have got my work cut out with the trucks :

I have started to collect a few new bits for the rebuild :

The deck will be going satin black with all the plastics etc in black to

These wheels were not new, but they were the right era, the right look and cleaned up (mounted in a drill with sand paper) like new :

I will build it up with no nose protector or grab rails.

I stripped the old grip tape, got some tough / flexible wood filler and got to work :D

As this logo was under the grip tape, it has survivied well :

I will try and save this and reuse it by cutting the new grip tape to show it off :D

The deck has now had some work with the spray primer / filler and is looking OK, still a bit of shaping and wet sanding to do yet though :D

To get a clearer idea of the serial number have you tried placing a piece of paper over it and then rubbing a pencil lead over it (side to side rather than the point)?

ive a few in the garage.....not in that cond mind, theyre fecked but cant ever ged rid, would love and old SC original, had a red un with santa cruz in the old cokacola style, looked ace, slimeballs, idys etc.....need to try n skate more with the old lot. weve nearly all got kids now so its an excuse to go to the park lol

Looking good so far. An original Grosso toy box is worth a fortune nowadays. My first pro set up was a SC Gregor Rankine with Gullwings and Bullets back in 1989. Have a few up on my wall now, some old, some not so old.

Nice collection. I collect late 70's/early 80's Powell, Santa Cruz, Alva, Dogtown, Sims completes.
